The Montgomery County Democratic Party Executive Committee, led by Chairman Joseph S. Foster, selected Wendy Rothstein and Jeffrey Saltz to be presented for endorsement for the court of common pleas by the entire party committee to meet on February 16th.

“We are very proud,” noted Foster at Thursday night’s Executive Committee meeting, “of all those who came before the screening committee, and equally proud of Jeff and Wendy for emerging as our candidates to the county court of common pleas.”

Foster further noted that this cycle is often referred to as an off-year election as the primary focus will center on the election of state-wide judges, court of common pleas judges, and a jury commissioner in the county, as well as candidates to township and borough offices, school board directors, district judges, and tax collectors.  “Yet, ironically,” the chairman continued, “these offices have as much, if not more, impact on our lives and our communities as those who are elected to our legislatures and executive offices.”  The Party, he said, will be promoting our candidates in the General Election, led by Wendy and Jeff, “two highly qualified and gracious individuals who are well placed to serve our community and the bench with dignity and expertise.”

Wendy G. Rothstein is a partner in the Blue Bell office at the Fox Rothschild LLP law firm and has achieved numerous "firsts" in her career as a leader at law firms and other legal organizations.  Wendy is known, and highly respected, as a Montgomery County trial attorney having practiced in the county courts for over 34 years. Wendy has served in a judicial capacity and advisor to the Judges for over 15 years as a Discovery Master, Civil Case Master and Chair of a Board of View.  She has been honored, as a trailblazer for Women in the legal profession, by the Montgomery Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Foundation, the Philadelphia Business Journal and Plymouth-Whitemarsh Senior High School Distinguished Graduates Association.

Jeffrey Saltz was educated at Princeton University and Harvard Law School and has more than 30 years of courtroom experience in Montgomery County, Philadelphia, and the surrounding counties.  He has represented both individuals and companies in a variety of business disputes.  Saltz believes that a fair, independent and efficient judicial system is critical to the protection of individual rights.  He has been ranked as Highly Recommended by the Montgomery Bar Association – the highest rating available.

Both Wendy Rothstein and Jeff Saltz were interviewed by a twelve-person screening committee along with seven other qualified individuals, and after considerable discussion were proposed to the Executive Committee for its recommendation to the full convention.  That all nine interviewees were more than qualified to serve as judges is a reflection of the standard the Party has established over the years for candidates of high integrity and belief in good government, and the Party’s continued success in attracting quality persons for public office.
